Mary Immaculate is committed to providing a safe environment for all children and vulnerable adults in our programs. We require that all volunteers comply with diocesan child protection policies prior to assisting in any capacity. This includes attending an online Protecting God's Children class, a background check, and agreeing to adhere to the Code of Pastoral Conduct. Please address any questions to Lynn Carter, VIRTUS/Safe Environment Coordinator.
All diocesan safe environment policies are on the diocesan website.
To register for an online Protecting God's Children class please use the Virtus Online website found HERE, and click on the First-Time Registrant link. Volunteers who work with children or vulnerable adults will be prompted to authorize a full criminal background check 24-28 hours after they have completed the PGC class.
“Taking a child he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it he said to them,“Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.” Mark 9:36-37
“Families need to know that the Church is making every effort to protect their children. They should also know that they have every right to turn to the Church with full confidence, for it is a safe and secure home.”- Pope Francis, Homily at Mass with Victims of Abuse, July 7, 2014
